Tiltrotors
Tiltrotors are aircraft that use rotors mounted on rotating engine pods or nacelles at the end of a fixed wing for lift and propulsion. They combine the vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) capabilities of helicopters with the speed, range, and altitude capabilities of fixed-wing aircraft. Tiltrotors can hover, take off, and land vertically like a helicopter, but once airborne, they can tilt their rotors forward to fly faster and more efficiently like a fixed-wing aircraft. Tiltrotors are commonly used for military and civilian applications, including search and rescue, medical evacuation, transportation of personnel and cargo, and special operations.
