Wet Lease Agreement
A wet lease agreement is a contract between two airlines where the lessor (owner) provides an aircraft, crew, maintenance, and insurance (ACMI) to the lessee (renter). The lessee operates the aircraft under its own Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) and is responsible for the commercial aspects of the flight, such as scheduling, ticket sales, and ground handling. Wet leases are typically used by airlines to cover seasonal demand, to operate new routes, or to replace grounded aircraft. The duration of a wet lease can vary from a few weeks to several months, and the cost is usually calculated on a per-flight-hour basis.
