Holding Position Markings
Holding Position Markings are a series of painted lines and signs on the taxiway that indicate where an aircraft should stop and hold when instructed by air traffic control. These markings are used to prevent runway incursions and ensure safe aircraft operations. The holding position markings consist of two solid yellow lines that run perpendicular to the taxiway centerline, with two solid yellow lines extending from the center of the perpendicular lines towards the edge of the taxiway. In addition, there may be a yellow sign with black lettering that indicates the runway designation and the holding position. Pilots must always obey these markings and hold short of the runway until cleared for takeoff or crossing.
