Slipping
Slipping is a maneuver in which an aircraft's nose is yawed to one side while the opposite wing is lowered, resulting in a controlled lateral descent. This is achieved by applying opposite rudder and aileron inputs. The purpose of slipping is to lose altitude quickly without gaining excessive airspeed, or to adjust the aircraft's ground track during crosswind landings. Pilots also use slipping to increase the rate of descent during an emergency landing. However, slipping can be dangerous if not executed properly, as it can lead to a stall or spin. Therefore, pilots must be trained to perform slipping maneuvers safely and effectively.
